Northwest MLS, the largest multiple listing service in the Pacific Northwest, has opted out of the $418 million settlement agreement reached by the National Association of Realtors, criticizing it for lacking transparency and potentially leading to deceptive practices and discrimination. NWMLS stated that its own rules on buyer agent compensation are fairer and more transparent, and it disagrees with NAR's terms that eliminate compensation transparency for buyers and restrict sellers' choices. NWMLS plans to revise its forms and listing processes to ensure sellers are aware of existing options when listing properties for sale.
