Norway Fund Ethics Council Investigates Companies Selling Arms to Israel for Gaza War

Reported 6 months ago

The ethics council of Norway's $1.6 trillion sovereign wealth fund is investigating companies selling weapons to Israel for use in the conflict with Hamas in Gaza, considering divesting from a limited number of arms manufacturers. The fund, managed by Norges Bank Investment Management, owns shares in 76 Israeli companies valued at $1.5 billion. There is pressure from activists and parliament members for the fund to reconsider its ethical guidelines and holdings, with nine previous exclusions based on advice from the council, including Boeing and BAE Systems for involvement in arms sales.
