After a fire broke out at Sunny Sky Community in Hsinchu, concerns arose regarding the adequacy of aerial ladders for rescuing individuals trapped in high-rise buildings. Experts suggest that the key issue in high-rise rescue operations lies not in the quantity of aerial ladders but in the fire safety equipment within the buildings. Factors such as the size of the site, presence of obstacles like trees and sidewalks, and the management of fire prevention facilities within the buildings play a crucial role in determining the effectiveness of aerial ladder operations. Therefore, instead of solely relying on aerial ladders, emphasis should be placed on strengthening internal fire safety measures and disaster preparedness in buildings.
