Reported by Huang Yin and Weng Wei-zhen / Online coverage on June 13, 2024, 6:11 PM. Nurses in grassroots health centers are facing heavy workloads due to a shortage of manpower. They are burdened by the numerous and varied tasks, including following up with abnormal cases even after work hours. Suggestions have been made to hire more personnel to alleviate the heavy pressure, especially in areas with the greatest burdens like Taichung City’s military healthcare center. Nurses are feeling overwhelmed by the wide scope of services they provide, from mental health and suicide care to visits related to viral outbreaks. While some progress has been made in allocating additional resources, the workload remains a significant challenge for these healthcare professionals.
