The domestic egg prices have been falling in Taiwan, with the cost per egg dropping significantly below previous levels. However, despite the affordability, Taipei Medical University Hospital's nutritionist Su Hsiu-yueh advises caution as each egg contains around 200mg of cholesterol and recommends consuming only one per day. While eggs are a good source of high-quality protein, with the Taiwanese eating an average of 300 eggs per year, Su also highlights the importance of cooking eggs properly to avoid health risks, especially for patients with chronic conditions. Avoiding consuming raw eggs and opting for simple cooking methods like boiled or steamed eggs is advised for optimal nutrition.
