At the end of his 'Cycling Around Hualien' trip, People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je expressed skepticism about Huang Jen-hsun's recent plan to establish a headquarters in Taiwan, questioning if Taiwan has enough electricity supply as semiconductor industries are power-intensive and Taiwan is considering shutting down nuclear power plants. Ko highlighted the need for sufficient electricity supply, especially for developing AI, as mentioned by Huang. Ko's past statements on AI, such as considering AI invention as humanity's most important event in 2023, have been met with criticism and online ridicule as some claim AI has been around since 1943. Ko defended his remarks and may elaborate on them in the future.
