On June 23, 2024, at 8:33 pm, chip giant NVIDIA ventured into the Middle East by signing an agreement with Qatar Telecom to deploy NVIDIA's AI technology in data centers across five Middle Eastern countries including Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia, Oman, Kuwait, and the Maldives. The contract was signed in Copenhagen, Denmark, and marks the first enterprise in the region to offer NVIDIA AI services. The specifics of the deal, including its value and the particular NVIDIA technologies to be used, remain undisclosed and subject to customer demands. However, due to U.S. restrictions to prevent Chinese companies from obtaining the latest AI technology through the Middle East, NVIDIA is limited in exporting its most advanced chips to the region.
