Observatory/ Slow Progress in Enacting Special Law for Nutritious Lunches to Effectively Reduce Food Waste

Reported about 1 year ago

According to statistics from the Environmental Protection Administration, Taiwan wastes an average of 620,000 tons of food waste each year, equivalent to filling 10,000 Taipei 101 buildings. School lunches have become the starting point of food waste, with concerns raised about the lack of nutrition in the meals provided. Calls have been made for a special law to supervise and manage lunch quality, as current practices like discarding most staple foods are contributing to increased food waste and impacting children's health.
