In response to frequent power outages across Taiwan, People First Party legislator Zhang Qikai pointed out that despite the severe power disruptions affecting many people, government officials still enjoy air conditioning every day. Zhang suggested that if the power outage issue does not improve, the Prime Minister and officials will have the air conditioning turned off during parliamentary questioning sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays to let the officials experience what the public is going through. Zhang also highlighted the need for Taiwan to address its carbon reduction rankings and follow international examples, as even anti-nuclear countries like Germany and US states like California have made provisions for nuclear energy plant extensions.
