During a visit to Hualien to inspect the post-earthquake reconstruction situation on June 22, 2024, Premier Su Tseng-chang ordered Taiwan Railways Administration to review its warning systems after the train derailment incident. Hualien County's leader Xu Chen-wei emotionally called for attention to the transportation needs of the region, expressing concerns over the lack of reliable transportation options for locals, especially during typhoon season. Xu also thanked the Premier for his visit and urged the central government to address the transportation rights and livelihoods of the 800,000 residents in the Hualien and Taitung area.
