Ohio's Medical Marijuana Stores Can Now Apply to Sell Recreational Pot

Reported 11 months ago

Ohio's Division of Cannabis Control has started accepting applications from medical marijuana dispensaries to obtain dual licenses that would allow them to sell recreational cannabis, as mandated by a 2023 statute approved by voters. The state is on track to potentially see the first recreational pot sales by mid-June, with individuals over 21 already permitted to grow and possess cannabis at home. The new law permits adults to buy and possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis and grow up to 12 plants per household, with sales revenue intended for various purposes. Proposed legislation may add restrictions to the recreational marijuana program, such as banning public smoking or vaping and requiring home growers to notify the Cannabis Control Division.
