Two Citgo oil executives, Alirio and Jose Luis Zambrano, who were detained in Venezuela for almost five years, have filed a lawsuit against their former employer, Citgo, seeking over $400 million. The lawsuit alleges that Citgo conspired to deceive them into traveling to Venezuela under false pretenses and then abandoned them as they faced harsh prison conditions and false accusations. The executives were among the so-called Citgo 6 convicted on questionable charges. The lawsuit claims that Citgo aided in their arrest and failed to support their defense efforts. This legal action comes amid Citgo's sale proceedings to repay creditors.
