OpenAI's board has unanimously rejected Elon Musk's proposal to purchase the nonprofit for $97.4 billion, stating that the organization is not for sale. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI, aimed to revert the organization to its original mission of being a safety-focused and open-source force for good. The rejection is seen as a response to Musk's tactics to hinder OpenAI's transition to a for-profit model, as the company is also engaged in talks for significant funding which could elevate its valuation.
