OpenAI has filed a request with a California judge to dismiss Elon Musk's plea to prevent the company from transitioning to a for-profit entity. Musk, a cofounder of OpenAI, initially supported its for-profit structure but later distanced himself due to unsuccessful efforts to acquire a majority stake. Following the launch of his rival AI firm, xAI, Musk filed a lawsuit claiming OpenAI prioritized profits over public welfare and sought to monopolize the generative AI market. OpenAI countered that Musk's claims are unfounded and should compete in the market, not in court.
