On June 25, several Chinese media outlets including the Securities Times reported that OpenAI will block API traffic for countries not on the supported services list starting July 9, and China is not included in this list. Many domestic Chinese startup companies will be directly affected as they have been using OpenAI's API to develop large AI models or applications. However, following this news, several Chinese companies have started offering their own services as alternatives to OpenAI, such as Zhifu, Baidu Intelligent Thousand Sails Cloud, and Aliyun. The founder and chairman of 360, Zhou Hongyi, mentioned in a video on Weibo that OpenAI's cessation of services in China could accelerate the development of China's own large model industry, indicating that it might not necessarily be a bad thing.
