New Taipei City's Tourism Bureau has completed the renovation of the entire Smile Mountain Line hiking route in stages, aiming to provide a better hiking environment by updating wooden steps, installing stone steps, gravel paths, and see-through railings. The project, which aimed to connect the forests and townships of New Taipei City, has turned 108 kilometers of hiking trails into a coherent route that combines town exploration, nature, and forest hiking. The city invested 21 million NT dollars in this project, focusing on respecting nature, minimalist design, aesthetic quality, and sustainable development to maintain the natural look of the trails.
