Starting from July 1, Hungary takes over the rotating EU presidency. Hungarian Prime Minister Orban, along with other right-wing leaders, announced the creation of a new political faction called 'Patriots for Europe,' aiming to bring peace, security, and development to Europe. This alliance requires support from at least 4 other country parties to be recognized by the EU Parliament. The move comes as the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) announces its exit from the Identity and Democracy group, facing expulsion due to scandals. Orban's Fidesz party previously parted ways with the largest EU Parliament group, the European People's Party (EPP).
