Outokumpu and Boston Metal Collaborate to Advance Carbon-Free Metals Production

Finnish steelmaker Outokumpu has signed a memorandum of understanding with U.S.-based Boston Metal to improve the production of critical carbon-free metals, essential for the clean energy transition. The collaboration will focus on using chromium from Outokumpu's Kemi mine in Boston Metal's molten oxide electrolysis technology, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in steel production.
