Yahoo Kimo (Real-time news) updated on July 9, 2024, at 5:08 am. Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration under the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that both imported 'Brown Rice Germ Oil (RICE BRAN OIL)' from Japan and 'Palm Oil (VEGETABLE FAT)' from the United Arab Emirates were found to contain the carcinogenic substance 'short-chain chlorinated paraffin' exceeding the standard. A total of over 8,000 kilograms were confiscated for return or destruction. Additionally, other products such as frozen mixed vegetables from Vietnam and barley seed powder from mainland China were also found to have pesticide residues exceeding the limit, leading to their disposal. This incident prompted strengthened inspection measures for imported oils, emphasizing the need for more rigorous sampling. Moreover, two batches of American imported fresh cherries were discovered to have pesticide residues in violation of regulations. This revelation underscores the importance of continued stringent inspections in ensuring food safety.
