On July 17, 2024, the Over-The-Counter (OTC) index surged to a 24-year high of 282.32 points during trading, closing at 281.21, amidst a backdrop of volatility that saw the weighted index drop by 227 points (0.9%). The OTC market saw more advancers (423) than decliners (315), with notable gains in sectors such as construction, electronic commerce, biotechnology, and telecommunications. Major institutional investors were active, buying a total of NT$6.133 billion in OTC stocks, boosting sentiment towards economic recovery and supporting expectations for interest rate cuts later in September.
