The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported a membership decline of 45,409 members since December, with a total of 1,509,195 members at the end of April. The decrease is attributed to major rule changes from a lawsuit settlement and low levels of existing-home sales inventory. While NAR membership is declining, it remains historically high. NAR removes historic membership data from its website, causing speculation about future renewals amidst projected industry changes that may lead to a significant number of Realtors exiting the field.
