Overseas Online Shopping Scam 5 Steps to Easily Get Tax Refunds

Reported about 1 year ago

In order to help protect consumers and reduce losses from rampant online shopping scams, the Ministry of Finance has outlined 5 steps for successfully claiming tax refunds when encountering fraud or receiving defective items during overseas online shopping. These steps include preparing to film or take photos of unpacking, filing a police report, downloading and filling out the necessary forms from the Customs Administration's website, providing all required documentation, and mailing the completed paperwork to the appropriate customs office. If everything is in order, tax refunds can be received in as quickly as 28 days. The process is similar for requesting tax-free product exchanges in cases of receiving defective items, with additional steps such as seeking compensation from the foreign seller and obtaining their agreement for the exchange, as well as submitting all required documents to the customs office within 1 month of customs clearance. Approval for tax-free exchanges can be expected within about 10 days of submission. Information on customs clearance dates and related documents can be found on the EZ WAY APP. The article also mentions how to identify specific customs offices based on the prefix letters in the customs number or tax invoice number.
