Overseas Shipping Rates Soar, Starting at $1,000

Reported 7 months ago

Container shipping prices on the Europe-America route saw another increase of at least $1,000 in mid-June 2024. Concerns over delays in shipping schedules, combined with a new round of tariff disputes between Europe and America, have led to an early surge in shipping demand. The tight vessel and container supply has pushed prices up for shipments to America and Europe, with some carriers already announcing further price hikes effective July 1st. In response to the growing demand, several shipping companies have started to raise their rates for the summer season. Ports in Europe are facing congestion, affecting schedules and flight punctuality, further driving up prices. Import volumes at major US ports have seen significant growth compared to the same period last year, and the recent announcement of new tariffs on China is also contributing to the increased short-term demand.
