As Taiwan experiences a heatwave, discussions arise on whether employees should have 'heat leave'. A survey by yes123 Job Bank reveals that 94.8% of workers believe the government should implement 'heat leave', with 53.6% supporting restrictions based on industry and job roles. Additionally, 96.6% of workers feel outdoor workers should receive a heat allowance, averaging $2983 per month, double the basic hourly wage. In contrast, only 48.9% of companies support 'heat leave', with 58.6% willing to provide a heat allowance but at an average cap of $1598 per month, falling short of workers' expectations.
