Pan Silang Calls for Opening Cross-Strait Business Tourism

Reported 7 months ago

The Chairman of Regent Hotels International, Pan Silang, urged the government on June 13, 2024, to open cross-strait business tourism to boost economic development. He suggested that by opening up business tourism and allowing foreign workers in the service industry, not only would the tourism industry be stimulated, but it would also promote Taiwan's economic growth. Pan noted the importance of these policies in light of a labor shortage issue and highlighted the success of Japan's post-pandemic recovery through similar measures. Proposing a more nuanced approach to foreign worker policies, Pan believes that by attracting foreign workers, Taiwan can address the shortage of frontline workers and offer opportunities for local employees to advance into management roles, ultimately benefiting the country's youth and economy.
