Panama's President Jose Raul Mulino announced that a government report indicates no immediate environmental or safety risks from the Cobre Panama mine, which was closed in 2023. He noted that a conservation plan will be developed, but emphasized the need to address the site to prevent future ecological harm. The mine, valued at $10 billion, was shut down following a Supreme Court ruling declaring its contract unconstitutional.
