Starting July, the painkiller Paracetamol will see a price hike in Taiwan. The manufacturer announced an 8% increase in the suggested retail price, around a 10-15 NT$ increase per box. However, pharmacists point out that Paracetamol's component is acetaminophen, and there are many qualified drug factories in Taiwan capable of producing acetaminophen-based analgesics at relatively cheaper prices. Despite concerns of stockpiling due to the announcement, pharmacists reassure the availability of alternative options and emphasize on not panicking unnecessarily.
