In Keelung, a fourth-grade student suffered second-degree burn injuries to her chest after being scalded with hot water in a prank by a classmate, with parents alleging that teachers and the school nurse only had her dry her clothes instead of promptly addressing the injury. The school, however, claimed that at the time, the teacher was not aware the student had been scalded and only knew her clothes were wet, leading to a delay in treatment, leaving parents distraught and questioning school safety protocols for using hot water on young children, urging the school to reevaluate prevention measures.
