Starting from July 1, Puli in Nantou implemented a new rule where drivers have to pay 20 NT dollars per hour to park in the designated 947 parking spaces across 23 roads. On the first day, vehicles vanished from the paid parking spaces, leading to an influx of cars parked illegally on the yellow lines or nearby roads without charges. Offenders face fines up to 1200 NT dollars, but no demerit points. Some drivers even try to evade fees by parking between spaces, but parking attendants still issue tickets. This change highlights the challenge of transitioning to a pay-for-parking system in the area.
