In a negotiated civil settlement, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor Anthony Borges now has control over Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz's name, preventing Cruz from using it for interviews, documentaries, or books without Borges' consent. The agreement aims to prevent Cruz from inflicting further harm on his victims and includes a provision for Cruz to donate his brain for scientific study after his death. Borges, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, reached a separate settlement for more compensation than other families involved in the lawsuits against the shooter and other entities.
