FTNN News Network reported a surge in public protests following the Kuomintang (KMT) and the People's Party pushing for a 'Parliament Reform' bill including amendments to Legislative Yuan's Powers Exercise Act and parts of the Criminal Code. This has led to a recall atmosphere targeting lawmakers, with a leaked list of potential KMT recall targets naming Wu Szu-yao, Huang Chieh, and Wu Pei-yi. Data from Rongtai Quant remarked that KMT legislator Yeh Yuan-chih's recall discussions account for 53.3% of his total mentions, making him the most at-risk legislator. Majority of the recall chatter focused on KMT legislators, with the top three recall targets all being KMT members. Notably, after the bill's third reading passed, the analysis showed that KMT House caucus head Fu Kun-chi accumulated the highest recall discussions at around 15,000 mentions but with a low approval rating of 0.21. Second on the list is Yeh Yuan-chih, known for frequent controversies in political talk shows, with over 13,000 recall mentions and a 0.27 approval rating. Xu Chiao-hsin, often engaged in arguments and termed the 'Air Combat Queen,' ranks third with approximately 11,000 recall mentions and a 0.36 approval rating. The data also indicated the challenging positions of other legislators, including the rising recall voices against Taichung representatives Liao Wei-hsiang and Lo Ting-wei, as well as notable figures like Wang Hung-wei and Lo Chih-chiang. This dynamic was also reflected in DPP legislators like Wu Szu-yao and Huang Chieh, both receiving over 3,000 recall mentions. The analysis noted the critical role of animosity in successful recalls, where Yeh Yuan-chih's low favorability and high animosity levels made him the most vulnerable among the three mentioned legislators. These new and young legislators face recall calls due to performance issues, lacking sufficient supporter base and facing amplified scrutiny over their actions. As they navigate through the recall process, they must address public sentiments, engage actively with constituents, and solidify their support base to prevent further escalation of recall challenges.
