Parliament Reform Bill Temporarily Suspended, ConCourt Allows 30-Minute Statements from 4 Agencies

Reported 12 months ago

After the third reading of the Parliament Reform Bill, the Executive Yuan's request for reconsideration was rejected by the Legislative Yuan. With the bill now in effect after the President's proclamation, opposition parties are planning to use parliamentary investigative powers to inquire into disputes such as the Kaisorn egg imports and Mirr TV. The DPP legislative caucus, Executive Yuan, Presidential Office, and Control Yuan have submitted constitutional interpretation documents and temporary disposition statements to the Constitutional Court. The Court has accepted the applications from the 4 agencies and decided to conduct preparatory procedures at 2 p.m. on the 10th to hear the necessity and scope of the temporary disposition, allowing the applicants and relevant designated agencies to state their opinions. The Court has also announced the proceedings of the day, which include a 30-minute statement period for the applicants, a 30-minute period for the designated agencies, and a 60-minute session for questions and supplementary statements from the Justices, with the session scheduled to end at 4:05 p.m. Details on public attendance and broadcast will be announced separately.
