Parliamentary Powers Amendment for Reconsideration Bill to be on the Agenda of the 14th Session; Han Kuo-yu Calls for Cross-Party Consultation at 9 AM Tomorrow

Reported about 1 year ago

The second reading of the 'Legislative Yuan Powers Exercise Act' was passed in the early hours of June 12, with Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu announcing consultations, during which DPP legislators threw paper airplanes onto the podium. The Procedure Committee of the Legislative Yuan convened today with unanimous agreement to include reconsideration bills as a report item for the Legislative Yuan meeting on Friday (6/14). Han Kuo-yu also issued a notice for a meeting, calling for discussions among the blue, green, and white camps at 9 AM tomorrow on topics like the reports by whole-house committees, Premier Su Tseng-chang, and the voting time for reconsideration bills. The Executive Yuan recently submitted reconsideration bills to the Legislative Yuan for amendments to certain clauses of the 'Legislative Yuan Powers Exercise Act' passed in the third reading, as well as additions to the 'Penal Code,' which were approved by the Presidential Office and added to the Legislative Yuan's agenda for the 14th. The review procedures and timetable for reconsideration bills, including the whole-house committees and meeting decisions, are to be discussed during the consultations. Han Kuo-yu has also invited the KMT, DPP, and TPP party caucuses for a meeting at 9 AM tomorrow to discuss the Executive Yuan's proposed amendments and additions to laws. Notably, Lai Ching-te and Hsiao Mei-chin did not participate in rural persuasion tours, while Lin Yu-chang criticized the white camp for proposing a TV debate, asking 'why start something if you knew this would be the result?'
