Parliamentary Reform Reconsidered, Possible Constitutional Interpretation Raised Outburst Among Green Supporters

Reported about 1 year ago

Following the passing of the parliamentary reform bill with bipartisan support, the Executive Yuan reconsidered the bill, citing 7 reasons related to constitutionality. Renowned former Green Party legislator Lin Cho-shui predicted that if the reconsideration failed, the next challenge for Premier Su Tseng-chang wouldn't involve a vote of no confidence, as the real challenge would be a constitutional interpretation where the judges wouldn't overturn their 585 interpretation, thereby deeming the parliamentary investigation rights and contempt of parliament charges constitutional. Lin's prediction angered some of the Green camp supporters, leading to criticisms on social media. This move follows Premier Su's statement that a failed reconsideration is not an option as the bills passed represent the will of the majority, contrasting with those who filed the reconsideration.
