On July 2, 2024, a Penghu fishing boat named 'Da Jin Man 88' was taken away by a Chinese maritime police boat while operating in Chinese waters, leading to a rescue mission by the Coast Guard Administration. The incident occurred during China's fishing moratorium period, and despite Taiwan's fishermen still working in the area, tensions arose. The fishing boat was eventually brought back to Weitou Port in Fujian by Chinese authorities, with the crew consisting of a captain named Hong and 5 other members. This event highlighted the sensitivities and complications related to fishing operations in the region.
