A Penghu fishing boat, Da Jin Man 88, was forcibly detained by Chinese authorities on July 2nd, with 5 fishermen onboard taken away. This rare incident has sparked concerns among both Penghu and Kinmen fishermen. The owner of the boat expressed shock at the situation, as there were dozens of other fishing vessels operating in the area. Local residents, aware of the situation, are hesitant to inform the 80-year-old mother of the captain due to concerns about how she would cope with the news.
