Penghu fishing boat Da Jin Man 88 was detained by two mainland Chinese coast guard ships while operating in the waters northeast of Kinmen on the night of the 2nd and taken back to the Weitou Port in Fujian. The Taiwan Affairs Office of Mainland China emphasized that the boat violated the fishing ban during the closed fishing season, and the mainland coast guard was enforcing the law normally. Despite Taiwan Coast Guard Administration sending two patrol boats to assist, they were unsuccessful. Mainland authorities stated the vessel will be promptly released through cross-strait channels. The incident was reported by China Central Television (CCTV) News, with a spokesperson from the mainland coast guard explaining that a Taiwan fishing boat which violated the closed fishing season regulations by engaging in illegal trawling was detained near Quanzhou on the 2nd.
