A Penghu-registered fishing boat 'Da Jin Man 88' was intercepted by two Chinese coast guard ships while fishing in the waters near Fuguo Islet in Kinmen on July 2. The Chinese coast guard forcibly boarded and took control of the boat, including its communications, before taking it to China. The boat is currently docked in Quanzhou, Fujian. The Taiwanese Coast Guard dispatched multiple vessels to intercept the Chinese coast guard and rescue the fishing boat, but it was eventually taken to Fujian. The boat's crew consists of a Taiwanese captain, one Taiwanese crew member, and three Indonesian migrant workers. Other Penghu fishing boats in the area quickly left to avoid a similar fate.
