Penghu Fishing Boat Seized by Mainland Chinese Coast Guard, Captain Questions Taiwan's Patrol Rights

Reported 12 months ago

On July 2, a fishing boat registered in Penghu, Taiwan, was forcibly boarded and detained by the Mainland Chinese coast guard and taken to the Wutou Port in Fujian. Captain Lu Li-shih questioned Taiwan's patrol rights after the incident, raising concerns over the lack of chase pursuit by the Taiwanese Coast Guard when another country intrudes even within its territorial waters. Lu Li-shih clarified the concept of chase pursuit on Facebook and criticized the Coast Guard for not taking immediate action as the incident occurred well within Mainland China's territorial waters, in what is considered 'internal waters.'
