On July 3, 2024, the Coast Guard Administration held a press conference to explain the law enforcement situation of our coast guard ships. A fishing boat from Penghu, the 'Da Jin Man 88,' was boarded and seized by Chinese maritime police in the waters 23.7 nautical miles northeast of Kinmen's Liao Luo Port. The coast guard briefly pursued the boat towards Jinjiang City, coming within 5.4 nautical miles and observing city lights across the shore, but retreated to avoid escalating conflicts. The incident was deemed a case of simple fishing trespass, pending further explanations from China regarding the inspection and seizure.
