Pfizer will pay $59.7 million to settle allegations that its acquired company, Biohaven Pharmaceuticals, paid kickbacks to doctors to promote the migraine medication Nurtec ODT. The U.S. Department of Justice stated that from March 2020 to September 2022, Biohaven violated the False Claims Act by offering incentives to doctors to increase prescriptions. The settlement, which follows Biohaven's acquisition by Pfizer in 2022, addresses a lawsuit filed by a former employee, with a portion of the funds going to government programs.
