PG&E, California's largest utility, predicts a surge in power demand by 2040 due to AI and electric vehicles. PG&E CEO Patti Poppe stated that the current grid is underutilized, with plans to increase utilization to 80%, minimizing the need for new power plants. The utility is also preparing for wildfires by equipping helicopters to battle blazes and implementing measures to reduce equipment-related ignitions, aiming to prevent catastrophic wildfires in the future.
