On June 29, 2024, a large explosion occurred in a fireworks warehouse in the southern Philippines, resulting in five fatalities, including a four-year-old child. The blast at the San Pablo City construction site caused a massive hole in the ground with debris flying into nearby buildings, triggering a fire. Four warehouse workers and the employee's four-year-old son died on the spot, while 38 others were injured, 8 seriously. The explosion also destroyed the warehouse's walls, affected nearby structures, and disrupted the power system and roads in the area. Authorities suspect the explosion was caused by fireworks accidentally igniting. Firefighters took over two hours to control the blaze in an area over 3,000 square meters.
