A leading IV fluid manufacturer, Yongfeng Chemical, ceases production due to violations, causing a significant impact on medical institutions with some pharmacies, clinics, and veterinarians left without a source of IV drips. Despite the Food and Drug Administration ensuring no shortage for end-users, many frontline physicians struggle to obtain supplies. Deputy Minister of Health Lin Ching-yi, who quickly changed her stance, apologized to healthcare partners and announced plans to import around 300,000 bags of IV fluids next week to address the shortage caused by the halted production of 2-liter saline bags.
