Planetary Health Diet can Lower Early Death Risk

Reported about 1 year ago

A large study confirms that adhering to the plant-based Planetary Health Diet (PHD) can reduce the risk of early death by 30%. This diet, emphasizing minimally processed plant foods with moderate meat and dairy intake, benefits both the planet and human health. The research, based on over 200,000 participants studied for up to 34 years, showed a lower risk of death from cancer, heart disease, and lung disease for those closest to the PHD regimen. Their diets also had a positive impact on the environment with lower greenhouse gas emissions, fertilizer needs, and cropland use. Published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the findings highlight the interconnection between human and planetary health.
