A recent report from mainland China revealed that out of 62 children's plastic slippers tested, 53 of them contained high levels of plasticizers, with one pair exceeding the limit by 805 times. These plasticizers can potentially lead to early puberty in children, increase the risk of various diseases like cancer and cardiovascular issues, affect sperm quality in boys, and lead to allergic reactions, asthma, hyperactivity, autism, among other health problems. Manufacturers cited high costs as a barrier to using eco-friendly materials. Consumers are advised to opt for reputable brands or those labeled as eco-friendly when purchasing rubber or plastic footwear to ensure safety.
