In a surprising move, PLG and T1 have confirmed their merger in the Taiwan basketball scene, with New Taipei Kings chairman Wang Wensiang announcing that a total of 9 domestic basketball teams have joined, and the 10th team will be from a Southeast Asian country. The new league aims to bring more possibilities to Taiwanese basketball, similar to the East-West structure in the NBA. Wang Wensiang, who has gained immense popularity as a basketball team owner, shared that the rapid growth of basketball in Taiwan over the past 3 years has been fueled by the passion, networks, and resources of corporate teams. With over 300 million total attendees at PLG and T1 games, the new league seeks to consolidate resources, enhance player platforms, improve game credibility, and develop professional league management talent for a stronger basketball stage in Taiwan.
