On June 26, 2024, a man named Cai was caught growing 780 cannabis plants of "lab-grade" quality in Taiwan, investing over 5 million NTD to set up three high-tech cannabis farms. With the help of professional technicians, Cai created controlled environments with constant temperature, electronic monitoring systems, and tailored cultivation methods for each plant species. The plants, estimated to be worth over 400 million NTD, were found in three locations and Cai, along with three other individuals, are being prosecuted under drug control laws. The police uncovered this sophisticated operation after a five-month investigation following a tip-off in January, seizing 63.4 kg of cannabis across the sites.
