Police Busts First Zombie Drug Factory! Criminal Bureau Uncovers Distribution Center for 'EtizoMeth' E-cigarette Cartridges

Reported about 1 year ago

On July 4, 2024, the Criminal Bureau announced the bust of the first 'EtizoMeth' e-cigarette cartridge distribution center arresting 4 suspects. The drug trafficking group was allegedly using the controlled anesthetic 'EtizoMeth' to manufacture a new type of drug in the form of e-cigarettes, sold and circulated in Northern Taiwan, referred to as the emerging 'zombie drug' or 'e-cigarettes that get you high'. The police seized ingredients worth 4.8 million NT dollars at the site and have brought charges under the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act. The police investigation team received information that the drug manufacturing and distribution group had set up a distribution center in Lujhou, New Taipei City making and selling these novel e-cigarette cartridges. The main suspect, a 28-year-old man surnamed Chen, was arrested along with three others. This case highlights the dangers of 'EtizoMeth,' which has been categorized as a narcotic in other countries, and now trafficked to young people in Taiwan in the form of e-cigarettes due to differences in drug regulations. The Criminal Bureau is committed to cracking down on illegal gangs and drug trafficking activities.
