In June 12, 2024, cooperation between Taipei City's Zhongshan and Zhongzheng Second Police Precincts under the guidance of the Taipei Prosecutor's Office led to the capture of a drug trafficking group in Greater Taipei. The operation in Yilan resulted in the arrest of three suspects, and the discovery of a submachine gun and a modified handgun. The group was found operating in densely populated residential areas, using vehicles as drug storage units and employing 24-hour drug delivery services disguised as bee-themed cafes to make profits. Surveillance by the taskforce led to the fortuitous discovery of a young man from the group testing one of the firearms near a riverbank, which eventually led to the successful apprehension of the suspects and seizure of weapons and evidence. The suspects have been detained for violating gun laws and await trial, as law enforcement vows to combat weapons and drugs to ensure public safety and eliminate crime.
